Artcell Band Biography

Artcell formed in October 1999. Artcell is one of the leading rock band of Bangladesh.

Formation:                    

The four current members were school friends from Dhaka, used to play Metallica songs. Eventually Ershad came up with compositions of his own and the group began to play them at shows. The response they got was encouraging, which led to the formation of the band. It was an underground band, is now one of the most recognized mainstream bands in the Bengali rock music scene.

The name ``Artcell`` was decided upon because it was softer sounding than a typical heavy metal name. in Cezanne and Shaju’s words:

Even though we were a heavy metal band when we started, we didn’t want a heavy metal name. We wanted a softer or an artistic touch to the heavy metal side. `Cells where art is produced`- that was pretty much the basic idea behind the name Artcell. According to the bassist of the band, Cezanne: ``Our inspiration was Metallica, but we would like to label ourselves as a `progressive rock band`.``

Onno Shomoy(1999-2002):             

In 2002, Artcell released their first album `Onno Shomoy`. It was both critically and commercially successful. The band lost its main songwriter Rupok to cerebral malaria while working on this album. Onno Shomoy was dedicated to him. One of the songs was titled ``Rupok-Ekti gaan`` in his memory.

Aniket Prantor(2002-2006):

Artcell spent four years carrying out experiments with their music without releasing an album after the success of Onno Shomoy. Although they did release singles scattered in various albums by other bands or compilation albums. Their second studio album Aniket Prantor came in April, 2006. The album was one of the top sellers of the year and in May the band performed their second solo concert at Dhaka’s Bashundhara Convention Centre.

Onwards(2007-2012):

Artcell celebrated its 10^th anniversary on October 23, in 2009 at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel where also attended leading bands like Feedback, Miles, Warfaze and Aurthohin, who’s inspired Artcell during the last 10 years. A DVD of the concert was due to be released in 2010. Artcell continue to regularly perform live shows and they have also made many tours out of Dhaka, including Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi and Sylhet with tours in India. In 2009 the band took part in ``International Coastal Cleanup 2009,`` a day-long beach clean-up movement at the Cox’s Bazar sea beach.                               

The band travelled to Australia and performed at Belmore Sports Ground in Sydney on 3^rd January, 2010. The band is due to be one of the country’s leading bands to perform at a concert against violence to women in the Banani Army Stadium, Dhaka, in December 2010.

In 9^th January, 2012, Artcell announced the releasing of their third album and clarified that it will surely be released sometime in 2012. They declaired: ``This is to inform all Artcell fans and friends who have been waiting for our 3^rd album, wait just for a few more months and hopefully you won’t be disappointed. Thank you all again for your love and support.

Shironamhin Band Biography

                                                          

“প্রতিটি রাস্তায়, প্রতিটি জানালায়
হাসিমুখ হাসিমুখে আনন্দধারা
তুমি চেয়ে আছো তাই, আমি পথে হেঁটে যাই
হেঁটে হেঁটে বহুদুর বহুদুর যেতে চাই”

১৯৯৬ সালের কথা। ইচ্ছে ছিল মনের সব সুর ভাসিয়ে দেওয়ার। সঙ্গী ছিল একটি অ্যাকুস্টিক গিটার। কীভাবে যেন তাঁর খোঁজ পেয়ে যায় আরো ক’জন। অল্পদিনেই বীজ থেকে আড়মোড়া দিয়ে ওঠে কুঁড়ি। দিনে দিনে ডালপালা গজিয়ে রূপ নেয় বৃক্ষে। বৃক্ষটির নাম দেওয়া হয় ‘শিরোনামহীন’। ফিউশন ঘরানার এক ব্যান্ড।

গল্পের শুরু

তারা(জিয়া, বুলবুল, জুয়েল) সবাই পড়তো বাংলাদেশ প্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (বুয়েট)-এ। এতো এতো বেশি সময় এখানে কেটেছে যে, ওদের ধারণা এমনকি এখানকার প্রতিটি ঘাসও তাদের কথা জানে। আর ছাত্র-শিক্ষক ও বন্ধুদের কথা তো বলাই বাহুল্য। এই ছেলেগুলো সারাদিন গিটারে টুংটাং শব্দ তুলে, গলা ছেড়ে গান করতো। আর আশেপাশের সবাই এদের এই ‘গান’ প্রতিভায় এতো মুগ্ধ ছিল যে, এই ক্যাম্পাসের মানুষদের ধারণা ছিল এই- ছোট্ট ভুবন পেরিয়ে একদিন ঠিকই তারা সারা বাংলাদেশের সব তরুণের মনে ঠাঁই করে নেবে। সারাক্ষণ যে আড্ডাবাজি তারা করে বেড়াতো সেটার প্রাণই ছিল গান। ফলে অবস্থা দিনে দিনে এমন দাঁড়ালো- যেখানেই জিয়া, বুলবুল সেখানেই গান আর হৈ- হুল্লোড়। আর তাদের গান শুনে অনেকেই বলতে থাকলো- “আরে গানগুলোর একটা চিরস্থায়ী রূপ দিয়ে দাও। বাসায় গেলেও যাতে শুনতে পারি।” ফলে এসব কথা-বার্তায় উৎসাহিত হয়ে তারা একটি ব্যান্ডদল হিসেবে নানা জায়গায় পারফর্ম করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল।
এক সময় নিজেদের আরো বেশি করে পরিচিত করার সুযোগ এই গান অন্ত:প্রাণ যুবকদের সামনে আসে। পদাতিক নাট্যচক্র তাদের নাটকের প্রয়োজনে এই ছেলেদের গান করার আমন্ত্রণ জানায়। সুযোগ পেয়ে নিজেদের সেরাটা দিতে মোটেও কার্পণ্য করেনি তারা। তবে মঞ্চে তাদের পরিবেশিত গান শুনে মুগ্ধ দর্শকরা প্রশ্ন ছুঁড়ে দিলেন- “নতুন এই দলের নাম কী?” তবে গায়কের দল সেদিন বুদ্ধি করে তাদের নামহীন দলের নাম জানালো ‘শিরোনামহীন’। যেহেতু তাদের কোনো নাম নেই তাই এই অভিনব নাম। আর এই কাণ্ডটা ঘটে ’৯৬- এর এপ্রিল মাসে।

বেজ গিটারিস্ট জিয়া বলেন, ‘আমাদের পথচলার শুরুটা ছিল কাঁটাময়। সম্বল ছিল একটা মাত্র গিটার। তবে মনে সাহস জোগাতো আমাদের গান। যেগুলো ছিল ব্যান্ডের হাতিয়ার।’  ’০২ সালের কথা। বুয়েটের কৃতি শিক্ষার্থী সনি মারা গেল দুই দল ছাত্র নামধারী সন্ত্রাসীর গোলাগুলির মাঝখানে পড়ে। আর তার এই মৃত্যু নিয়ে শুরু হয় নোংরা রাজনীতি। এই ঘটনা এবং কাজকর্ম প্রতিবাদী করে তোলে সাধারণ ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের। বুয়েটের শিক্ষার্থীদের এই প্রতিবাদী আন্দোলনে সামিল হয় ‘শিরোনামহীন’ ও। সনি হত্যার বিপক্ষের আন্দোলনে সে সময়ে জিয়ার গিটারের টুং- টাং বা স্যান্টুর (এক ধরনের বাদ্যযন্ত্র)- এর আওয়াজ সবাইকেই আরও বেশি প্রতিবাদী এবং সনির প্রতি সহানুভূতিশীল করে তোলে।
এ সময় তাদের প্রথম অ্যালবাম ‘জাহাজী’র কাজ চলছিল। নানা অনুষ্ঠানে ‘শিরোনামহীন’- এর সদস্যরা অন্যদের জনপ্রিয় গানগুলো গাওয়ার চাইতে নিজেদের লেখা লিরিকে সুর দিয়ে যে গানগুলো তৈরি হতো সেগুলোই গাইতো। এ প্রসঙ্গে ‘শিরোনামহীন’- এর বক্তব্য, “আমরা সৃষ্টিশীলতায় বিশ্বাস করি। আর সৃষ্টিশীল মানুষের ক্ষেত্রে যা ঘটে, তাই আমাদের ক্ষেত্রে ঘটেছে। আমরা নিজেদের গান করার দিকেই নজর দিয়েছি।”
‘জাহাজী’ অ্যালবামটি করার বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ে দলের পুরোনো সদস্য বুলবুল, মহীন, জুয়েল ব্যান্ড ছেড়ে দেন নানা ব্যক্তিগত কারণে। দলের আরেক সদস্য ফারহান ব্যান্ড ছাড়েন দ্বিতীয় অ্যালবাম ‘ইচ্ছেঘুড়ি’র কাজ শেষ হওয়ার পরে। আর বিভিন্ন সময়ে ‘শিরোনামহীন’ ব্যান্ডদলে যোগ দেন- গীটার নিয়ে তুষার আর ড্রামার হিসেবে শাফিন। ফলে ‘শিরোনামহীন’- এর এখনকার লাইনআপ- জিয়া (বেসগিটার), তুহিন (ভোকাল), তুষার (গিটার), শাফীন (ড্রামস),দিয়াত(গীটার) এবং রাজীব (কীবোর্ড)।

শিরোনামহীন এর কিছু টুকরো খবরঃ

• ’০৫ এরই মার্চে ‘শিরোনামহীন’ ‘এম্পফেস্ট’ নামের এক স্টেজ শো’তে পারফর্ম করে। মিরপুর শেরেবাংলা স্টেডিয়ামে অনুষ্ঠিত সে অনুষ্ঠানে প্রায় পয়ত্রিশ হাজার দর্শক উপস্থিত ছিলেন। ঐ অনুষ্ঠানে তাদের সাথে পাকিস্তানি ব্যান্ডদল ‘জুনুন’ ও ‘স্ট্রিং’ পারফর্ম করেছিলেন।

• শিরোনামহীন এর এগিয়ে যাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে নতুন মুকুট এদেশের ব্যান্ডদলগুলোর সংগঠন ‘বামবা’র সদস্যপদ প্রাপ্তি। আর তারা এই সদস্যপদ লাভ করে ৩১ আগস্ট’০৮ তারিখে।
• বন্ধজানালা অ্যালবামটি প্রকাশিত হয় ১৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০০৯। এই অ্যালবামটি রেকর্ড হয় তাদের নিজস্ব স্টুডিও ‘প্রায় শিরোনাম’-এ। কিছু কাজ বেঙ্গল স্টুডিও, স্টুডিও অচিন এবং Studio Greg Pigott(অস্ট্রেলিয়া)-এ করা হয়।
• ‘বেনসন এন্ড হেজেস স্টার সার্চ’ এর স্টার সার্চ প্রতিযোগীতায় শিরোনামহীন ২০০০ সালে অংশগ্রহন করে এবং তারা সেরা দশটি ব্যান্ডের মধ্যে ছিল।
• শিরোনামহীনের পরবর্তী অ্যালবামের নাম তাদের নিজস্ব ব্যান্ডের নামে হতে পারে। ইতমধ্যে অ্যালবামের কাজ শুরু হয়েছে। এছাড়াও তাদের নিয়ে একটি তথ্যচিত্র নির্মান করছে নোমান।
• ‘সুপ্রভাত’ গানটি  শরীফুল করিম শাওনের ‘চক্র’ ছবিতে ‘টাইটেল সং’ হিসেবে ব্যাবহার করা হবে।

The Red Epitaph: A Dream

Oh dreaming! That may sound overly simplistic, but that’s where it starts. Imagination is the arsenal that brings a dream to life. Some people dreams in sleep. And some people can’t sleep making that dream real.

 My dream? It’s not just a hallucination, it’s more than that. It lies inside the red bricks of Curzon Hall. I can still smell the ancient history of Curzon Hall. My dream is to study there. It is the heart of Dhaka University and the heart of thousands of students of science faculty. And it is the place where the young students upraise their voice against the language policy that Mohammad Ali Jinnah tried to impose. I want to be a part of that glorious history. I can give millions of exams sitting in town hall with a smiling face. I want to spend the whole night just gossiping in the moon light. I want to represent an idea, I want to represent possibilities. I want to fall in love with this ruby paradise  millions of times again and again and again.

 

 But should I be looking for my dream job, or trying to monetize my passion? Is that a recipe for happiness…….or a recipe for disaster ? Definitely it would be a disaster ! People who are running toward their dreams, life has a special kind of meaning. And this is what I believe……..I can make my parents proud, I can make my college proud , I can judge millions of people’s lives. And the world will never be the same again. Because I came this way. I can imagine thousands of black graduation caps flying high up in the air when the pale afternoon sun dipped low over the red paradise. With the help of my mind palace I can see my own graduation cap just there, among the thousands.

Do you believe in infinity? I do believe. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. And my infinity is to become a bright member of Curzon Hall. And I want to place my name in the abyss of those bloody red bricks; the red epitaph. This is what I’m dreaming of.

Microsoft HoloLens is just a wearable glass with a GPU, a CPU, a HPU and a hell lot of sensors in it. This device intelligently maps the room you're in, blending holograms with the environment around you. Pin holograms to physical locations you choose so that your room becomes the canvas for your imagination.  There isn't a screen to touch or a mouse to click. It uses gestures to create, shape and size holograms. It uses our eyes to navigate and explore. It uses our voice to communicate with our apps. We can also share our vision through Skype!

As a HoloLens wearer, you'll still see the real world in front of you. You can walk around and talk to others without worrying about bumping into walls. There's a whole bunch of other hardware that's designed to help the HoloLens' effects feel believable. This device has a plethora of sensors to sense your movements in a room. It also have a camera to detect objects. You can go somewhere you've never been before and get to know it from every angle. That doesn't just let you see the digital world around you ; it lets you see it on top of the real world.

Microsoft started a new era of technology by making HoloLens. It sounds like science fiction,  but if these devices work the way tech luminaries hope they can, such dreams may be reality sooner than we think. Microsoft HoloLens will definitely be a bomb out there!
